How to Mark All Emails in Gmail as Read

2 Answers 2

If you go to the "All Mail" view from a computer (not sure how the mobile version works) and click the 'select all' checkbox, a little notification saying something like "All 50 conversations on this page are selected. Select all 24,037 conversations in All Mail" should appear, where the concluding part is a link. If you click that link, so click 'Mark equally Read,' it should take intendance of the trouble.

  • Well even after you practice this (click on All mails and so click Mark equally read) it withal does not marking all as read. And the unread messages come up dorsum as soon as I refresh.

  • @user30994 Not certain what's happening here... difficult to debug why it's non marking all of the messages as read, without more information. As to the refresh...the marking-as-read is going to be a fairly bandwidth-intensive performance, so it's possible yous're refreshing earlier all of the marker-read instructions have been sent across to the Gmail servers?

This should be done in a desktop browser (non mobile)

  1. Enter the post-obit in the search bar at the elevation of Gmail page "is:unread"

  2. Click "select all" (checkbox higher up the list of messages in upper left)

  3. Click the hyperlink in the text that pops up in the "All 100 conversations on this folio are selected. Select all 56,315 conversations in All Mail"

  4. Click the "Mark As Read" push button on the height.

  • The offer to select conversations beyond 100 displays only when I go into "All Mail service" view and so choose "Select all" using the drop downwards. When I start in any kind of a filtered view, the offer does not brandish for me. So yes, post-obit the instructions to the alphabetic character, this worked for me in 2018.

  • In 2018 I can only brandish up to 100 Eastward-Mails per page, then I can't mark them all as read at in one case, merely since I but had about 650 unread E-Mails information technology was achievable this manner anyway.
